Re: 12V battery life
If you've fully discharged the 12v lead-acid battery, it has probably been damaged. It's now over 7 years old, Winter's coming, change it!

Re: Niro DashCam install
Colin is quite right in that you will fry your dashcam if you don’t use the hardwire kit, which contains a 12 to 5 volt converter.

Re: August 2024 Navigation and maps update
Not sure what you mean when you say Google maps "shows a lot more" and with Car play "no (sic) really any differences". Anyway, bringing the focus back to avoiding motorways, it is true that Google Maps has this feature. However, I'm sticking with the Kia TomTom system because I ...

Re: Warnings when using windscreen washers
No, but I would surmise that the windscreen cleaning is temporarily obscuring the cameras, excess soap?

Re: Jacking points on eNiro
I'm puzzled what you're saying here, Colin. Did the scissor jack nearly buckle because you didn't use the correct jacking point.? I've used scissor jacks for years, including the one supplied with my third-party space saver wheel for my Niro, and have never had any problems, provided the jacking poi...

August 2024 Navigation and maps update
I've just updated my 2021 Niro HEV (Mark 1) using the MY20 software option that is appropriate for my car. The lower-level navigation option AVOID MOTORWAYS has now disappeared, or else it's hidden somewhere else, beggared if I can find it, possibly one of you guys can enlighten. There are now four ...

Re: Illogical
Hi H2, I've sorted the self-folding mirrors, there is a setting I'd overlooked. (Thanks, Jus1973). Even so, why is this seemingly pointless feature an option......!

Re: Tyres affect mpg?
The Kia combined mpg for a old model 4 Hybrid on 18" wheels is 53.3, for ditto model 3 on 16" wheels is 58.9. So 18 " wheels are around 10% worse than 16" wheels, probably similar for new models. You're both citing driving in Autumn/Winter when mpg is generally lower, certainly t...

Re: Updating maps
I found the entire DIY download took around 4 hours onto a 64GB usb drive via Sky Ultrafast fibre broadband at 145 Mb/s. The updating process in the car takes around 20-30 minutes, best undertaken when you're out for a drive. The disconcerting aspect is that when it says it's 100% complete, it promp...

Re: Updating maps
My 2021 Niro 4 HEV uses NIRO HEV (MY'20) Standard GEN5W options, because it is a 2020-21 HEV with wide 10" screen. Select the options specific to you.
