Re: Tyres affect mpg?

The Kia combined mpg for a old model 4 Hybrid on 18" wheels is 53.3, for ditto model 3 on 16" wheels is 58.9. So 18 " wheels are around 10% worse than 16" wheels, probably similar for new models. You're both citing driving in Autumn/Winter when mpg is generally lower, certainly t...

Re: Updating maps

I found the entire DIY download took around 4 hours onto a 64GB usb drive via Sky Ultrafast fibre broadband at 145 Mb/s. The updating process in the car takes around 20-30 minutes, best undertaken when you're out for a drive. The disconcerting aspect is that when it says it's 100% complete, it promp...

Re: Updating maps

My 2021 Niro 4 HEV uses NIRO HEV (MY'20) Standard GEN5W options, because it is a 2020-21 HEV with wide 10" screen. Select the options specific to you.

Re: Vehicle shudder / judder when pulling away from stationary

Just wondering, do you always leave the car in D or do you move the lever to N after you stop? If you do the former, then the car pre-selects 1st gear while stopped. If the latter, then 1st is only selected when you move the lever into D; this takes time and you could be 'beating the system' if you ...

Re: New niro

I've got a space saver spare wheel in the boot of my HEV, you have to remove a polystyrene tray for it to fit. It's not specifically a Road Hero, but I would imagine there's little or no difference,

Re: Newbie looking for Dashboard protector film

My immediate thought is a RHD is a mirror image of a LHD, so just reverse the screen protector. But if the protector is sticky on one side, then this is a no-go.

Re: Vehicle shudder / judder when pulling away from stationary

Reading these posts again, I have jumped to assuming that you have a HEV, but maybe not....it really helps if you, and anyone else reading, fully identify your car. So, on the assumption that it is a HEV (or a PHEV), then I still think the problem may be in the dual-clutch transmission. You need to ...

Re: Vehicle shudder / judder when pulling away from stationary

When you say the handbrake "reapplies", this infers you are using it at the traffic lights, and not relying on autohold or the footbrake. Try not using the handbrake for a while. If the shuddering still occurs, then the problem probably isn't the handbrake. You might then be looking at clu...

Re: Brake lights on regen? '71 eNiro 4+

From observation, the brake lights on my HEV only ever come on at regen level 3. I have posted about this several times, and believe that they should come on at level 2, which is a significant level of braking. I have stopped using regen in busy traffic for that reason, having seen a number of vehic...

Re: Charging keeps stopping abruptly

Simon, presumably everything was OK before your electricity supplier changed your domestic meter to a smart meter? If so, the problem has been caused by your electricity supplier, go back to them. If not, then Alan's and Colin's comments apply. As I usually ask, let us all know how you get on....
