Re: Oil warning light - Solved

The guys at TMS KIA Hinckley have found the fault!. They managed to get the problem to show at the workshop and were able to diagnose a faulty module. From what I understand, this is an electronic module that handles the warning light. Now replaced under warranty. No more red light, less stress. Wel...

Oil warning light

Kia Nero self-charge 66 reg Has anyone had an oil warning light coming on intermittently? It comes on after about 5 to 10 minutes, when the engine has warmed up I guess, and will go out when the battery is powering the car. It will go on and off randomly and has got worse, that is, it does it for lo...

Re: Car starter external batteries

I believe that the American version of the Niro does not have a separate 12v battery, but has a bit of the main lithium battery as a 12v auxiliary battery. That explains the differences noted in the emergency responder's document - which was for the US model. On that model, you can recharge the auxi...

Re: Flat Battery

Nothing to report. No more incidents. 15000 miles now, and I've had the car 11 months.
No word from the dealer, but I haven't been back to them so I guess they've just forgotten about it.

Re: Car starter external batteries

I have a jump starter battery and have used it. See my post about my flat 12v battery. If the 12v battery goes flat you can only get in the driver's door and then get access to the engine compartment. You will see a fuse box cover on the right as you stand in front of the car and look at the engine....

Re: Key fob battery

I have a Niro 2 with a standard remote keyfob. It isn't keyless starting - I have to use the key in the ignition. As far as I remember the other keyfob works OK, but I like to keep it as a spare. I haven't noticed any difference with the 12 volt battery charge level - apart from when the 12v battery...

Key fob battery

Has anyone else had to replace their keyfob battery? I have replaced the battery twice now in 14500 miles. The symptoms of a failing battery are not unlocking from a distance - in the end I have had to get quite close to the car to unlock ( a couple of feet). With a new battery in, the distance is r...

Re: Flat Battery

I think that the engine starts when you first start out so that it gets up to temperature. At least it seems that way from my observations. My flat 12v battery problem seems to have gone away (touch wood). I have now done 14500 miles, so 3500 since the last flat battery. Don't think the dealer did a...

Re: Hybrid Battery Charge Level

I think that it is all to do with battery life. The battery will last appreciably longer if only using a quarter of its charge range. More than 4 times the life than if it is charged over the full range. Also it leaves a margin for any unusual demand on the system. On the subject of leaving the car ...
