Re: PHEV - over-revving and using petrol whist in Electric mode
Agreed, any outside temperature below about 14c would cause the engine to kick in unless the heating was turned fully off. AC can run on electric, but actual car heating is combustion engine only.

Re: Goodbye all
Yes I was charged to return the Niro, I have 2 years left, but was only charged about £800. As I have been able to lease a similar sized car (Octavia petrol) for £130 less a month the figures stacked up to change.

Re: PHEV or HEV??
Over more than 26000 miles logged onto Fuelly our PHEV averaged 84.6 and that was with no major eco driving and frequent long distance driving. European type motorway speeds were regularly reached. One huge advantage when we got ours was ADAP was standard on the PHEV but not on the standard 3. The g...

Re: Michelin Cross Climate - fuel economy impact?
I did a full change to Cross Climates, would be quite nervous having non winter spec tyres on the rear if the conditions were slippery. Re: Minor downsides of the Niro's specification
I was only planning on use the Niro for the next week or so as she is only having a couple of Auto lessons before she moves on to a manual car. Our Ka+ is a manual with a handbrake!!

Re: Michelin Cross Climate - fuel economy impact?
ESP has vastly reduced the problem of lift off oversteer. Near home is a dual carriageway with a tightening right turn slip road joining the main road. Nearly all the signs & a couple of the lamp posts have been flattened by various cars. Wet roads & budget tyres may not help the case. Witho...

Re: Michelin Cross Climate - fuel economy impact?
Understeer is easier to control than oversteer so best grip at rear reduces the chance of the car spinning.
