Re: New to hybrid.

I think you will enjoy it. What sort of journeys will you be doing? If limited to 25-30 miles or so around town you can pretty much avoid using any petrol. The electric motor has enough power unless accelerating hard -e.g overtaking up hill or getting from 30mph on slip-road up to motorway speed. Th...

Re: New to hybrid.

ICE uses minimal fuel for AC, slightly more if heating is required - brings the MPG over the first 30 miles or so down from infinite to round about 95mpg. I use dipped hedlights most of the timne and despite being inefficient - non-LEDs they don't seem to reduce the ICE-free miles significantly. I a...

Re: Towing

The government website says that the V5C "often" displays the maximum towing mass. Apparently, the definitive place to look is the chassis plate - inside the front passenger's door. It does not give the towing weight directly, but should give a Gross Combination Weight, and a Gross Vehicle...

Yeah, YouTube reviewers quite often don't really know what they're talking about. Make sure you only listen to and watch trusted reviewers, nowadays any old twit with a video camera thinks they're some big time reviewer. So who would you trust? Unfortunately its not just old twits with video camera...

Re: Trip computer and long term Fuel Economy Calculation

RMT, your findings back up my original post. As we have observed, if your last few trips are predominantly EV, the mpg goes through the roof, but if they are on the ICE, then it plummets. I've been getting the cumulative mpg to fluctuate between 90 and 230 over a few weeks without ever resetting the...

Re: E-Niro test drive

Radar2018's calculations are correct and his hypothesis sounds correct too.

The battery holds 64kWh. 3.6kWh/ mile would only give it a range of 17 miles...half that of my PHEV. 3.6 miles/kWh would give it a range of 240 miles which sounds right.

Re: Spare Tire for 2019 Hybrid Niro

Niro EX? I guess you must be based in N. America. I imagine the EX is fitted the same as the European models. If so, then there is a plastic tray under the mat which contains the tyre repair kit. If you remove that tray, there is plenty of room for a space saver spare, jack and wheel brace, which yo...

Re: Kia Dealers.. Good..Bad ..or Indifferent?

took my phev in for its first service this week at Towehill Kings Langley. After i'd paid I realised that they had charged £157 even though they had quoted £150 on the phone. There were no unexpected extras on the invoice, so I queried it. I was assured that I'd been charged the correct amount, but ...

Re: Kia e-Niro

Hi H2onorth, I Just checked out the E-Niro at my local dealer. Its tyres are Michelin Primacy 3 215/55/R17. Those are rated as C for economy, A for wet grip/braking and 69dB for noise at 2 bar by Blackcircles. The PHEV is equipped with Michelin Energy Saver Plus, 205/60/R16 rated B, A, 70dB. So, if ...

Re: OEM Tyres

Hi Biggeege. I just wondered what made you reply to a thread which had been quiet since last May? I think that the consensus amongst Niro owners is that the motoring press went a bit OTT when it came to criticising the car for grip and performance. It seems perfectly adequate for most of us. I certa...
