Re: Coasting guide
How can the system know from a two-dimensional map that there is a long downhill coming up? Methinks it's a Korean joke.....seriously, has anyone tried using the speed limiter? This automatically coasts downhill as it prevents any propulsion once the set speed is reached. Pity it doesn't brake the c...

Re: New Niro 3 Petrol consumption
Assuming you've done your sums correctly, it sounds low as I get around your figure in my HEV and I don't hang about! What is your trip computer telling you?

Re: Brake release.
The manual says hill-assist assist will work with ESC off, but not if there is a malfunction of the ESC. The manual isn't always accurate, is your ESC on? Have you switched any other safety aids off? If you have, this might be the problem. I have everything on, and my hill-assist works fine.

Re: Brake release.
Have you put the car in neutral when you are stopped? I believe this cancels the hill-assist.

If by "getting the best out of it" you mean economy, then Suman's advice is spot on. If you mean performance, then always drive it in Sport mode. Either way, I'm sure you'll work it out!

Re: Parking Brake Noise.
Pretty sure the Niro doesn't have a separate parking brake drum. One of the disadvantages of handbrake or parking brake disc brakes is that they "lose grip" as the disc cools and contracts away from the pads. The opposite is true of drum brakes, as the drum contracts onto the shoes.

Re: Parking Brake Noise.
This is nothing to worry about, the rear brake disc pads are temporarily stuck to the disc, and the crack noise you hear is it freeing up as you move off. It usually happens after the brakes have been wet, and the disc rusts a bit.

Re: Brake release.
I suspect it's not that the brakes are slow to release (can't imagine how this could happen), but that you are experiencing delay in take-up by the electric motor. Sometimes, not always, and I can't pin it down to any specific sequence of events, the car hesitates before it sets off!
