Front passenger door remains locked from inside

I stop the car for my passenger to get out but they cannot open their door - handle moves but the door remains locked. The driver's door can open as usual.
This happens wihether ignition is on or off.
Any ideas please?

Is there any resistance when you pull the handle, or is it very loose. If the latter, it's likely the cable from the handle to the lock is broken.

Problem solved - went to Kia agent (Brindley Wolverhampton) and they diagnosed faulty door lock. Returned 1 week later, new lock fitted whilst I waited.
