Hi all,
I am new on here so please be kind.
I have been looking at used Kia Niro cars at my local dealer and have test driven two cars both 2016-2017 reg with around 20k miles on each and prices vary a little but not much.
My issue is one is a Niro 2 and the other is a Niro 3. The 3 has much better spec but the 2 is in black and looks nicer with the contrast of the polished paint against the chrome trim. The 3 is a grey colour and also nice but not in my opinion as eye catching as the black 2.
My biggest problem is that the 3 seems to have a harsh road noise (during the test drive) where the 2 did not. I was told by the dealer that this is due to the low profile 18 inch wheels/tyres on the 3 but not sure if this is so.
Can anyone please comment and give me their views on this and help me choose which i should pick.
Thanks
Future Niro owner.
Niro 2 or Niro 3
I have the standard 18" wheels and had not noticed any harsh road noise. That having been said, in winter I switch to Dunlop Winter Sport 5 205/50 R17 93H XL M+S and at lower speeds (say up to about 30mph) these are significantly quieter, despite the M+S tread. Of course they are narrower, so have a smaller contact patch.
But I wouldn't say the road noise is harsh with the 18".
