Distance travelled on EV only on Niro hybrid . NOT PHEV

Post by Colin Lambert » Sun May 02, 2021 4:02 pm

Good afternoon all.
I'm thinking of migrating from Karoq Sportline to Niro HEV (NOT PHEV) can anyone tell me how far you can go on battery power ONLY from startup?
I gather most HEVs can do about one and a half to two miles on pure EV?
Can't find info anywhere, I keep getting PHEV figures.
many thanks,

The point of the HEV is that the electric motor provides assistance to the petrol engine. Occasionally, a HEV will run along on electric power if conditions are right, a complex algorithm decided by Kia. You as a driver have no direct control, the car uses engine-only, engine+motor, motor only as it determines best for the driving conditions. From my own 4 year experience of a HEV you might get up to a couple of miles on electric only, with very light throttle, no uphill and a tailwind.......Averaging 55mpg over a wide variety of driving conditions.

Let me say so: every some minutes you can drive roundabout 30 sec. electric.

I had a test drive, took it up a motorway for about 7 mile, cannot remember how much charge was in the battery. On driving back into town I had to stop at a set of traffic lights. On pulling away I drove up to about 30mph before the petrol engine came in. It was only a short drive to the next lights and then I got up to about 20mph before the petrol engine came in. I have ordered a Niro 4 and waiting word for delivery.
