I recently had a smart meter fitted and now having problems charging my Niro. It keeps cutting out after a short while with a red light displaying on the charger (pod point).

I assume that the rest of the house is not cut off - it's just the car charger.

Have you contacted your electricity provided for advice?

PodPoint installer should have notified your electricity supplier of the charger being fitted. Did they also fit a dedicated user unit for the charger and a voltage 'manager' If not either, that could cause the unit to cut out.
Does it have a 'trip' on either your consumer unit or the dedicated user unit? if it is actually tripping out, it would suggest a faulty charger, or a wiring fault.
When the charger has 'spooled up' how many Kw is it charging at?
I would call PodPoint service.

Simon, presumably everything was OK before your electricity supplier changed your domestic meter to a smart meter? If so, the problem has been caused by your electricity supplier, go back to them. If not, then Alan's and Colin's comments apply. As I usually ask, let us all know how you get on....

Curiouser & curiouser.
Last night my charger (SyncEV EVWC2S7G) was dropping to HALF A KW! as I sat in the car to check, it went up to 7.4. then a couple of hours later the same thing happened.
Eventually it took 6 hours to go from 56% to 98% and would not go any further in spite of the car being instructed to receive a 100% charge.
I did get 316 miles though agains the Kia claimed max mileage of 282.
Kia (not Hendy) reckon it may be because my software is out of date.
Hendy 'down' to their usual inefficiency, managed to deliver the car without either the service or the software update undertaken.
