I have a 2023 Niro HEV which has done about 22k miles. I have to lay the car up for 12 months as I have to surrender my licence (medical reason not law breaking!). I will, presumably, need to charge the battery every now and again, just to keep things from seizing up and to keep things ticking over. I have 4 questions:

1. What type of charger should I buy?
2. How often should I charge the battery and for how long?
3. Where is it? Totally confused looking under the bonnet.
4. The dummest of the 3 questions, how do I do it?

Hopefully it will be a fairly simple task and the 12 months will fly by!

Many thanks

I have tried to find the 12v battery on the HEV. The general consensus is that it is amalgamated with the traction battery under the back seat. Haven't a clue if this is true!
Try ringing the dealer.
Being a HEV (I have owned 2 HONDA HEVs) I assume although you cannot drive for a year you can sit in the car?
If so I would simply get in it and start the engine until it cuts out because the traction battery is full. This should ensure that the 12v battery is also topped up.
As I have only owned a fully electric eNiro, the above is only my personal opinion. You should check with your dealer, that is what they are there for and should give you the full and proper details to solve your dilemma.
Good luck.
