Hi,
I am new to the group.
Test drove the NIRO PHEV yesterday and initially impressed. Looking for a company car that doubles as family vehicle.
Obviously benefits on company car tax but I do 20 to 30000 miles a year. Does anyone else use a Niro PHEV for this mileage and how do you find it if so? I am wondering if it is suited to lots of motorway miles in terms of reliability and comfort mainly.
Drive A3 petrol at the moment - seems to go forever but need something bigger and PHEV.
Niro for 20 - 30k miles a year?

Welcome to the forum,
I only have one experience of PHEV and not at your mileage, which I was doing when I worked for Shell, many years ago.
My PHEV was a Mitsubishi Outlander.(after I had retired)
It was permanent 4wheel drive with 1 motor and weighed over 2 tons. It's battery range was pathetic at 23miles in the summer and 18 in the winter.
It suited me at the time, although i did have a regular 80 mile round trip with no mains charging facility at the turning point.
In this situation it managed 55 MPG. which wasn't bad.
PHEVs are far more efficient now and Kia quote around 40 miles for the Niro PHEV. One thing you must not do is charge the battery from the ICE whilst driving. The consumption will rocket.
Bearing in mind you mileage, I feel i must ask why you want a PHEV?
Public charges cost around the same as petrol usually and I assume yo would be doing most of your driving in hybrid mode. Considering the extra purchase price of a PHEV , would you not be better off buying a FULL hybrid? You should get around the same consumption for a lower purchase price.
