I’ve had dash and in my other cars for a couple of years and decided to use the same camera for the Niro as it’s a good all round d spec and a good price..
After playing about with various locations I just decided to go below the mirror..
Fitted it to the screen and removed the trim around the Sensors to run the wire
Fed the cable down to the fuse box and I use a mini usb to OBD lead which has its own fuse and saves cutting any wires just plugs in the OBD port.
Camera ddpai Mini 2
OBD Cable
Niro DashCam install
I'm going to connect somewhere to the cabin light power (add additional fuse between this and 12Vto5V DC/DC converter.
Have it solved similar in mine previous two cars. The biggest advantage there was "battery saving" feature which cut offs cabin lights power after some time, even with not locked doors and second - it didn't loose power immediately after ignition off (this will work in Niro, I'm not sure for how long power stays in lightning system after ignition off.

Just in front of the gear lever, you have two 12v fittings and a usb port

I use the fitting which is a cigar lighter type in front of the gear lever for my front dash cam and the usb in the center console for my rear camera. Both turn off when ignition is turned off.

Where did you mount the camera and how did you route the cablefor the front dash to keep it out of the way?

HI,
How did you remove the trim around the sensor (rear view mirror)?
I have a dash cam installed (by garage to avoid warranty issues as wired to ignition),I wanted to add the rear view dash as well. It came with a Y-splitter cable to allow me to take the power from existing camera and run the cable inside roof lining to rear wind screen.
If anyone has removed the fittings from the roof lining I like to know how as do not want to apply too much force and damage something.
Thanks
Wasim
